OUR CLAIM FILING SERVICES
 
           
There are 6 steps involved with an SR&ED claim:

  1. Define and scope the projects to be claimed.
  2. Prepare a report which describes each project in sufficient detail to convince a CRA science reviewer that the project qualifies under SR&ED rules.
  3. Prepare a detailed costing for each project.
  4. Prepare the T661 and associated schedules that are attached to your T2 corporation tax return.
  5. File the tax return before the deadline date.
  6. Justify your claim to CRA science and financial reviewers (if required).

We offer our clients 3 different levels of service. This gives you the option of doing as much of the work involved as you want to – and reducing our fees accordingly. (See Professional Fees). We have developed templates for the reporting and costing (with a detailed set of instructions) that make it easier for anyone to prepare a claim. The options are:

Level 1 Full Service We do the costing, report writing and claim filing.
Level 2 Editing Service You use our templates and file the claim; we edit what you have done.
Level 3 Consulting We provide advice at the critical decision points.

Typically, a first-time claimant will use our Full Service for their initial claim, and then use our Editing Service for the next few years. The choice of Consulting is made when a client is very comfortable with the process – or if the size of the claim is too small to justify our fees.

For CRA science reviews, we always recommend that we brief you before the review, attend it, and lead the discussion of any concerns that the science reviewer may have. While there is no need for us to attend financial reviews, we recommend briefing you before it, and leading the discussion of any concerns that the financial reviewer may have.
