OUR PROFESSIONAL FEE STRUCTURE |

Our professional fee structure has separate fees for claim filing, and for science and financial reviews.
On-site reviews only occur occasionally - typically, once within the
first 2 years of starting to file SR&ED claims; and subsequently
when there are large increases in the size of the claim or at the start
of a new major project. We only charge for reviews when they occur – see below. We believe our approach is
fairer than our industry's standard which is to include
these charges every year, whether or not the reviews occur.

Our professional fee structure for claim filing includes 3 options:
- A flat-rate fee, based on the level of service offered, which is independent of claim size.
- A
flat-rate ‘contingency fee’, based on the level of service offered,
which is also independent of claim size while still providing the
benefits of protecting your cash flow and not having to pay if the
claim is rejected by CRA.
- A traditional industry fee that calculated as a percentage of your claim.
We offer a 20% reduction in fees for the 2nd and subsequent years that we file (to reflect the associated lower costs). Fees are also reduced by 10% in the first year if you are a member of BCTIA (which can more than pay for your annual membership).
There are 3 levels of service that you can choose:
- FULL
SERVICE in which we do all the preparation and filing with information
provided by you. The fee for a claim with no more than 2 projects is
$9,500. (For clients in provinces other than BC, we charge an additional $1,000.) The 3rd and
additional projects cost $1,750 each. (It is rare for a claim to involve more than 2 projects.) Fees can also be reduced to $7,000 if your accountant prepares the T661 tax form. (We would only recommend this option if your accountant is experienced in the preparation of the form.)
The fee can be paid over a 6-month period.
- EDITING
SERVICE in which we provide you with Reporting and Costing Templates to
fill out, and then edit what you have done. You are responsible for
filing the claim. The fee is $5,000 in the first year and $4,000 in
subsequent years.
- CONSULTING SERVICE in
which you do all the preparation and filing, and we provide consulting
at key stages during the process. The fee is calculated at $250.00 per
hour.
If you prefer to pay when (or if) you receive the benefit of the claim,
then we charge an additional 20% to the fees defined for Option 1.
A
traditional industry contingency fee, that is a percentage of the
amount of the claim, is available for those who prefer it. The
percentage will be customized for each client, based on the Full
Service fee for Option 2 ($11,400 for 2 projects or less) and an
estimate of the amount of the claim. |

The fees for Science and Financial Reviews are calculated on an hourly
basis at $250 per hour with a maximum of $5,000 for either Review. (Back to the Top)
